Filming plan

I am planning to do all of my filming over the half term. I am planning to use two of my friends James and Charlotte, if they fail to make it I have two back ups just in case. I will film no mater what the weather as it looks like real life so the weather doesn't matter.

Clothing

I generally want my actors wearing casual clothes such as jeans. I want my male actor to be wearing jeans and a t shirt and suitable other wear such as if cold/ raining a coat and suitable footwear for all conditions. I want my female actress to have her hair straight and quite natural make up, I want her to be wearing dark coloured jeans and an appropriate casual top I would like her to either wear boots or converse so they are suitable for colder sorts of weather. A coat will also be needed as the weather will probably be cold.


I plan on filming my first few scenes and then stopping for a tea break where they can eat and I can brief them on the next part I want them to act. If it is raining I can improvise by adding umbrellas into my scenes outside so they don't get really cold and wet.

Me and Casey have decided to work on our own so I will now be carrying on the work by myself.

Results

We gave our questionnaire out to 20 people and these were our findings.



This shows our results from our second question. this shows that the majority of people wanted to see grey/black/white in our music video. This shows that they would prefer dark, dull colours to convey the mood of the song.

 

This is the result of our third question which asked 'Would you prefer our music video to be a story or performance?' As you can see from the pie chart above that most people wanted to see a story rather than a performance. I think I will now probably make my music video as a story rather than a bit of both as more people wanted to see a story based video.

 

 



This pie chart shows the results of the question 'If you chose story what age would you like the actors to be?'. From this you can see a considerable amount of people chose 16-20 year old category with some choosing 20-25. No one chose the under 16 category or the 25+ category. This shows that the age group we aimed it at, wanted to see people from their same sorts of age groups in the music video. I think this is so they can relate to it better.



This is showing that after listening to the song about 65 percent of people want my music video to be a love story. This is good as I think love relates to the song well as it talks about being in love but as a dream. 

 

This pie chart shows what locations are preferred for our music video to be set in. This shows that people most liked the ideas of the setting of a house but mostly the street. I will use their input when filming my music video. 

 

 

 

 

This shows that after listening to the song that most people wanted it to be a happy ending at the end of my music video. I think this is because the audience want to aspire to have something like what is conveyed in the music video. I like the idea of having a happy ending and will use this for my music video.

 

 

As for this question asking where would people like the music video to start, the feedback was split as to which they would prefer. I think personally I want my music video to start inside but I will think about this more before I decide fully.

 

 

 

 

Analysis of other music videos

 

I have decided to look at some other music videos to get ideas for our own music video.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

JLS - Hottest girl in the world 

 

This music video starts off with the four singers in darkness which light builds up. It has them singing and dancing but then refers to what they are singing to. As they are singing about 'the hottest girl in the world' they sing to various different girls. The background is always plain but flashes from white to black. One minute there are girls in the shot and then it flashes to just them singing. It then puts the dancing and the girl moving into slow motion with a background of falling sparkles all behind her. It ends with one of the singers throwing his hat at the camera which puts the last shot as darkness. I like the idea of parts of them singing and then where it refers to what they are talking about. I also may use the idea of the light coming in and showing them and ending in darkness.

Ellie Goulding - Anything could happen

 

This video starts with waves crashing against rocks with the artist standing on the beach. it then flashes to her in a car and then back to the waves and rocks on the beach. Shes laying on a rock on the beach singing the song. It uses close ups on her face and then long shots and shots of the waves and rocks again. There are then further shots of her standing on the beach with silver balls all over the ground. This carries on like so throughout the video with other shots of her and other strange people etc. I think she is trying to convey the point of anything can happen. I like the fact that she is using a story but performing at the same time.

 

 

Conor Maynard ft Ne-yo - Turn around

 



 

 

The music video starts with a close up of the artists face with what looks like wind behind him. It then shows what looks like a lift coming from the sky, it then flashes to his face and a girls face and then to buildings and a street with him standing in it. This then keeps flashing through all of these. It then reveals he in in the what seems like a lift with the girl. It then shows him singing and performing the song in the street, which then carries on flashing between all of the different settings etc. It then shows the other artist in the street which he then starts singing, it flashes between him and the previous scenes of Conor Maynard. It then shows the first artist on the top of a train with the girl and then what looks like falling from the sky. this then carries on with the both of them singing together. I like the idea of flashing between the different shots and scenes of the artist. I think that it conveys the different feelings throughout the song and think i may use the same sort of concept in my music video. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Original Music Video

We both listened to the original version of the song and didn't like it. We didn't like how the music video was all in black and white, but we liked how we could use it to swap between the dream and reality. We like the lighting used and thought we could use similar sorts of lighting within our music video. We thought that they put the video all in black and white to convey a feeling of being depressed/sad as he cannot have what he wants.

Quite a lot of these ideas were similar to ours, but they also gave us some more which we liked the sound of and decided to maybe use them within our music video.

- The rain (however this depends on the weather)
- We are going to use natural light in the 'morning scene'
- Forests/fields
- Our first scene/introduction to our music video is going to be in a bed
- Our story line is going to be a love story
- Different colours for the reality and the dream

Brainstorm

Our ideas for our music video- One of the people in the relationship having a dream

- More tense moments happen at certain points in the song

- Reality is more of a dull colour, and the dream will be a variety of brighter colours to show the difference.

- No speech or voice over during the music video

- Don't show the actors faces until the end of the video

- A relationship between two people

- Include day and night time scenes

- No eye contact with the camera until the end of the music video

- Our main camera shots will be point of view shots, distance shots and a mixture of different close ups.

- We want our music video to tell a story

- The dream turns out to be reality in the end of the music video

- Use a variety of places and different atmospheres and weathers.
